This fall, Vernon students participated in a unique fundraiser for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. On September 27th, students made donations to the hospital to participate in an "Inflatables Day" at Vernon Middle School. Students spent additional class time participating in community service projects. The fundraiser raised $3662 which was donated to the U of I Stead Family Hospital where it will be directly used for kids who are patients there, helping to fund activities, guest speakers, events, and more.
The goal of the event was to provide our students with the experience that they play a part in a bigger picture in their community, beyond their own immediate lives. Our students realized that they can have a positive impact on others in need, in a fun, celebratory way. Students and staff had a fun and fulfilling day that they hope to recreate again in the future!
