Ashley Studt

Please welcome our new special education BD/LD teacher, Ashley Studt. She is from Cedar Rapids, IA. This is her first year teaching. She graduated from Kennedy in 2005,  graduated from Northwestern in 2009 with a BA in Psychology, graduated in 2011 with a MS in Clinical Counseling at Columbia International University. She then got her certification in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2014, and then went back to school to get her teaching license this past year.

After she stayed home with her two daughters, she decided to work at a school as a paraprofessional. During her time at the school, she was encouraged to get her license. A few months later she was in school taking classes in order to obtain a teaching license.

Why did you choose to work at a middle school?:

To be honest, I never thought I would teach at a middle school. In my head I thought I would be teaching earlier grades K-2. I came to interview for the special education position and it felt right teaching here. I can say that I enjoy teaching here. We have a great community of teachers that are supportive of one another.

A little bit about her:

I am a mother of two daughters who keep me busy and a military spouse. I have a Blue Heeler-Border Collie named Oliver. I love coffee and chocolate!

Interesting Fact: I was born Georgia and lived in South Carolina for a few years.
