All teachers in Iowa were invited to attend a Computer Science Professional Development (CSPD) during the summer of 2023. Five teachers from Longfellow attended, and all had amazing experiences. Teachers chose sessions to attend, and all five chose sessions in their grade level, and learned new technology-based instruction that they could implement in their classrooms right away. In addition to learning new information, they were provided with materials necessary to share this new learning with students. Items they came back with included: Cubetto Coding Robot along with five story mats and books, six Bee-Bot Programmable Rechargeable Robots and a hive for charging, Snap Circuits, Pixel Boards and related materials, Hello Ruby computer science books, sequencing cards, materials to make a circuit with batteries and lightbulbs, and more. All of the teachers came back excited and ready to implement new computer science based learning in their classrooms. This experience will be offered again next summer, and this group is planning to attend!
