Each year, the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters Association (NEIBA) selects recipients for the Phillip Sehmann Excellence in Teaching Award. The award is presented to one elementary, middle, and high school director. It recognizes years of service in teaching instrumental music, as well as service to NEIBA and the Iowa Bandmasters Association (IBA). This award recognizes commitment to the value of instrumental music education in our schools, and is considered the highest honor bestowed on NEIBA members.
Jennifer Adams, our Vernon Middle School 5th and 6th Grade Band teacher, was selected as the recipient of the Phillip Sehmann Excellence in Teaching Award at the Elementary Level. Awards were presented Saturday, December 2nd at the annual NEIBA Luncheon, held as part of the NEIBA Honor Band Festival.
